Award of Excellence

#23 Award of Excellence (for a non-member of NGC)


The Award of Excellence is NGC's highest award, presented to a non-member of NGC and sponsored by a State Federation.  A medallion may be awarded for a significant contribution toward the advancement of goals and purposes of NGC. A maximum of three Awards of Excellence may be awarded to an individual, organization or institution.

Application must be made and submitted by a State Garden Club. Page one of the Book of Evidence must include name, address and telephone number of applicant and a summary of applicant’s qualifications. All other NGC Award Application Requirements are to be met. (See Requirements below or Award Rules and Requirements in The National Gardener, Fall issue, odd numbered years.)


#24 Award of Excellence for State Garden Club

A medallion and $500 award may be awarded to a State Garden Club for an outstanding State project that advances NGC objectives and goals. A maximum of four may be awarded per year.

Page one of the Book of Evidence must include a summary of the state’s project, along with the number and name of the NGC award, name of State Garden Club and number of members on whom NGC dues have been paid. All other NGC Award Application Requirements are to be met. (See Requirements below or Award Rules and Requirements in The National Gardener, Fall issue, odd numbered years.)

b. membership from 1000-3999
c. membership from 4000-7999
d. membership over 8000

REQUIREMENTS FOR PREPARING A BOOK OF EVIDENCE


  1. Label on outside cover: number and name of NGC award, category, name of club/s, city and state.
  2. Presentation: not to exceed 12 pages (6 pages front and back) The 12 pages may be enclosed in 6 plastic sheet protectors, pages back to back. Material must be attached to pages; no loose materials.  Use 8 1/2" x 11" paper and enclose in report cover or 2 pocket folder; no scrapbooks or oversized books. Exceptions are noted.
  3. Top of first page include number and name of NGC award, name of club/s, number members on whom NGC and state dues are paid (regular, honorary, life, associate).
  4. Written Text: concise; covers all requirements in award description and Scale of Points for Achievement, Participation and Record.
  5. Record: photocopies are permitted; yearbook pages are not needed as documentation
  6. No Title Page. No Table of Contents. No summary is needed as it appears on the NGC Awards Application Form.
  7. When the same project is eligible for various awards, submitting exact duplication of books of evidence is not acceptable.
