World Gardening
Global Partners Running Waters Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to build relationships through collaboration on water, food and health projects in Latin America. As part of NGC’s World Gardening Committee, NGC has chosen to raise funds to bring safe drinking water to villages in Guatemala.
Last year our contributions helped to complete a project at Ojo de Agua Quiche. Clean drinking water was brought into the village using a gravity system. Hours that villagers spent walking miles to fill jugs with water can now be used to plant food and raise animals for families.
Our goal now is to raise approximately $25,000 to $40,000 for a new project, and we are about a quarter of the way to our goal. If each member contributes 50 cents, NGC will exceed that amount. When the money is collected, the project will begin.
One idea that has been successful is the “Drop in the Bucket” campaign. We encourage you to participate by sending around a bucket and asking members at your local, district and state meetings to contribute their loose change. If everyone in attendance gives even a small amount, it can add up quickly.
You can choose to donate as an individual, a club, a district or a state. It is an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion, honor a loved one, or recognize a special achievement. All donations will be acknowledged with a printed tax receipt form and a recognition certificate.
